Dear Robert Zadnik and Irene Borba,
Belvedere has different residential categories and zoning for a reason: to provide a variety of housing options.
If the planning commission and the city council approve the apartment building, then the floodgates will open for large, three story multi-family buildings to be built in all R_2 zones, including Teal Road and Barn Road.
This would essentially eliminate R-2 zoning since, if R-2=R-3, then R-2 disappears.
It is obvious that this is not the intention of the General Plan.
Therefore, you cannot approve Mallard Pointe as currently proposed with an apartment building in our R-2 zone.
Please post our letter on the City’s website under "Mallard Pointe Public Comments”.
Thank you,
Bob and Alex Leitstein
